This Role
As PayJoy continues to grow and expand in Latin America and globally, offering credit solutions and smartphone financing to millions of customers, the need for robust fraud prevention mechanisms has never been greater. The Fraud Analytics Senior Manager will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the company's assets and reputation by leveraging advanced analytics to detect, prevent, and mitigate fraudulent activities. This position is integral to ensuring the trustworthiness of our platform and enhancing the overall customer experience.
The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of analytical prowess, technological expertise, and a deep understanding of fraud dynamics in the financial sector. They should be proactive, detail-oriented, and have a knack for identifying patterns and anomalies. Collaborative in nature, they should be adept at working with cross-functional teams and communicating complex findings in a clear and actionable manner

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement advanced analytical models to detect and predict fraudulent activities in real-time.
  • Collaborate with the fraud prevention team to refine and enhance existing fraud detection mechanisms.
  • Conduct thorough impact assessments to understand the financial and reputational implications of potential fraud incidents.
  • Create, monitor, and report on key fraud metrics, ensuring stakeholders are informed of the fraud landscape.
  • Stay updated with the latest fraud trends and techniques, ensuring PayJoy's defenses are always a step ahead.
  • Work closely with the tech team to integrate analytical solutions into PayJoy's platform.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to senior management on fraud prevention strategies.
  • Train and mentor the junior members of the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvementPartner with Product, Risk, Data Science, and Commercial teams to reduce fraud vectors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in analytics, with a focus on fraud detection in the financial sector.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, etc.
  • Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms and their application in fraud detection.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • English proficiency.

Desirable qualifications

  • Experience with big data platforms like Hadoop or MODE.
  • Previous experience in a fintech or credit solution company.
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing fraud detection systems at scale.
  • Multilingual capabilities, given PayJoy's diverse customer base.
