Who You Are:
Reporting to our VP, Controller, the Tax Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of tax compliance, planning, and strategy for a rapidly evolving corporate environment. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of corporate taxation, SEC reporting requirements, and the complexities tax issues associated with our business needs to go in the present and the future, and be a relationship builder to collaborate across all business functions at Zūm.
What You'll Do:
Tax Compliance & Reporting:
• Oversee the preparation and filing of all federal, state, and local tax returns to make sure they comply with applicable laws and regulations
• Manage income tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740, including tax footnote disclosures for SEC filings
• Verify accuracy and timeliness in the preparation of tax-related disclosures for financial statements
• Stay updated on changes in current and proposed tax laws and analyze their impact on the company
• Enhance tax process efficiency through the use of tax technology tools
Public Company Transition:
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve tax readiness for SOX compliance and public company reporting
• Support the required SEC documentation related to taxation
• Implement processes and controls to maintain compliance with public company tax obligations
Tax Strategy & Planning:
• Develop and execute tax strategies to optimize the company’s tax position while maintaining compliance with evolving tax laws
• Provide strategic tax guidance on business initiatives and expansion
• Identify and manage risks and opportunities related to federal, state, and local tax legislation and regulatory changes
Leadership & Collaboration:
• Develop a high-performing tax team, providing mentorship and growth opportunities
• Collaborate closely with Finance, Legal, and external service providers
• Serve as the main contact for external auditors and tax authorities
What You Bring To Zūm:
• 10+ years of tax experience in public accounting and corporate tax at public companies
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred
• Expertise in ASC 740, corporate tax planning, and compliance in a public company environment
• Strong understanding of SEC reporting requirements and tax implications
• Proven ability to manage complex tax projects and lead cross-functional initiatives
• Familiarity with SOX compliance and public company internal controls
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing business needs
• Leadership experience with a track record of developing team members
The targeted base salary range for this role is listed in the compensation section below. Actual salary may be above or below this range based on factors such as location, skills, and relevant experience. In addition, this position may include additional compensation in the form of equity or commissions. The targeted pay range for this role in US CA is: $222,000 - $268,000
