Reporting to the Revenue Manager, the Senior Revenue Accountant is responsible for all revenue related month-end close journal entries and reconciliations, as well as leading the invoicing and collections processes. The Senior Revenue Accountant is expected to be highly organized with current processes in order to meet tight deadlines, and be a key contributor to process improvements and automations. The role has a hybrid schedule based at the Company’s headquarters in Redwood Shores, CA.
Responsibilities
- Perform monthly revenue close procedures, ensure accurate results are delivered timely for reporting in accordance with US GAAP
- Assist with the financial statement close process by preparing journal entries, reconciliations, ad hoc analyses, and other non-recurring services
- Ensure all revenue recognized meets revenue criteria consistent with ASC 606
- Prepare audit-ready memos for revenue-related standard and non-standard contracts
- Participate in the deal review process from a finance perspective for all revenue-generating agreements and events such as professional services
- Partner with Sales, Finance, Product and Legal to ensure that new arrangements are in compliance with the Company’s revenue recognition policy and achieve the best interests of the Company
- Build new processes to help the business scale and be a key point person for ERP (NetSuite) revenue module
- Support audit deliverables and help coordinate with auditors during the year-end audit
- Calculate reserve balances
- Responsible for account reconciliations and analysis
- Oversee billing and accounts receivable functions
- Assist with special projects needed by Management
- Approach all responsibilities with an ownership & organized mindset, with focus on being inquisitive & solution driven
Technical Skill Requirements
- Licensed CPA & Big 4 Accounting firm experience preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of work experience, at minimum 2 years in revenue accounting and related environment
- Experience in revenue recognition standard (ASC 606) is a must
- Knowledge and hands-on experience working with GAAP multi-element revenue recognition accounting standards including ASC 606
- Experienced in writing technical accounting position papers
Additional Skills
- Excellent critical thinking, analytical, written & oral communication skills
- Strong Excel skills
- NetSuite experience preferred
- A solutions-oriented team player and effective communicator with all levels of management and cross functional organizations
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
The targeted base salary range for this role is listed in the compensation section below. Actual salary may be above or below this range based on factors such as location, skills, and relevant experience. In addition, this position may include additional compensation in the form of bonus, equity, or commissions. The targeted pay range for this role in US CA is: $115k-130k
