Role overview

Mission: Enable ICEYE to win mission opportunities by defining and leading tailored technical solutions, with a focus on complex public tenders.

ICEYE is seeking a technically driven and customer-focused Senior Sales Engineer to join our Missions Business. In this role, you will directly support strategic sales engagements, provide technical leadership in proposals and customer interactions, and enhance our ability to scale through engineering excellence. You’ll work at the intersection of customer needs and ICEYE’s capabilities, helping to craft compelling technical narratives that enable missions’ success.

You will play a pivotal role in crafting high-quality responses to institutional and government tenders across Europe, working closely with ICEYE’s Sales, Product, and Engineering teams. Your background in European public procurement programs gives you the insight needed to align ICEYE’s cutting-edge technology with evolving mission requirements.

This role is especially focused on ESA, EU, NATO, and government space programs, where public procurement processes and programmatic collaboration are key to long-term success. You will act as a trusted technical advisor, crafting compelling solutions and proposals throughout the tender lifecycle.

Tender & Proposal Writing

  • Lead and deliver high quality, winning, technical volumes for institutional and government tenders across Europe (e.g. ESA, EDF and other tenders)
  • Lead and deliver responses to RFI, RFQs and formal RFPs, and other full proposals
  • Deliver tailored technical presentations for prospective missions customer
  • Coordinate internal inputs and documentation across multi-disciplinary teams

Sales Collaboration

  • Enable missions sales teams with technical insight and timely content to support high-impact opportunities
  • Develop and maintain reusable technical collateral and documentation for missions sales opportunities
  • Support business development leads with technical positioning for institutional opportunities
  • Serve as a bridge between sales, product, and engineering, ensuring consistent messaging and feasible commitments
  • Ability to lead system architecture and definition within a consortium, with ICEYE holding a leadership position.

Customer Engagement

  • Provide deep technical insight during customer engagements and sales cycles
  • Represent ICEYE in technical discussions with customers
  • Build customer trust through clear and responsive communication during tender clarifications
  • Visit customer facilities as needed as part of the pre-contract negotiations

Expected Outcomes:

  • Led the definition of tailored technical solutions in large open ITTs
  • Delivered full technical solution for proposals and institutional tenders (e.g. ESA, EDF EU), on-time and aligned ICEYE offering and buyer expectations.
  • Ensured on-time delivery rate of general requested sales support documents and technical content.
  • Recognized as one of the go-to technical voices for institutional customers by Sales and BD leads and pulled into pre-contract ESA/EU sales engagements.
  • Upskilled local and global sales teams via technical training sessions

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Aerospace, Physics, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in sales engineering, bid management, or pre-sales, ideally in a Newspace-sector setting
  • Hands-on experience working with or for ESA, European Commission, or other government and institutional tenders
  • Proven ability to translate complex systems into customer-friendly value propositions, and navigate public procurement environments.
  • Strong understanding of space systems, EO missions, and space mission design
  • Familiarity with the ESA and EU tendering environment, terminology, and evaluation processes
  • Familiarity with ECSS standards, developed by the European Cooperation for Space Standardization (ECSS)
  • Ability to interpret and respond to complex technical requirements and/or statements of work in structured tender formats, and to craft compelling narratives that align ICEYE technology with structured technical requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong customer focus and problem-solving mindset, with high attention to detail
  • Proactive, accountable, and comfortable working with ambiguity across teams in a fast-paced, global environment
  • Strong team player and collaborator
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly (approximately 20–30%)
