Who are we?
ICEYE is the global leader in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite operations for Earth Observation, persistent monitoring, and natural catastrophe solutions; owning and operating the world's largest SAR constellation. ICEYE is headquartered in Finland and operates from five international locations with more than 600 employees from nearly 60 countries, inspired by the shared vision of improving life on Earth by becoming the global source of truth in Earth Observation.
Our satellites acquire images of Earth at any time – even when it’s cloudy or dark – providing commercial and government partners with unmatched persistent monitoring capabilities. Information derived from our SAR images helps customers make data-driven decisions to address time-critical challenges in various sectors, such as maritime, disaster management, insurance, and finance.
Our team is a tight-knit group of experts across many disciplines (e.g., engineering, software development, radar technology, etc.). We’re innovative, driven people who strive for excellence in everything we do. Teamwork, curiosity, and having fun are core values at ICEYE, and contribute to Making the Impossible possible!!
Why should you work for us?
ICEYE is at the cutting edge of new technology and we are continuing to build and operate our commercial constellation of SAR satellites. Working with ICEYE, you will be part of making the impossible possible, whilst shaping the Earth Observation industry. You will work with varied, diverse and engaged colleagues to further the ICEYE mission. At ICEYE we realise that without great people we can not succeed, therefore you will be an integral, valued and appreciated colleague, with the ability to directly shape the vision and direction of the business.
We actively support Continuous Professional Development, and will provide access to a range of avenues to allow you to succeed, including courses, training and attendance at conferences. ICEYE is a place where your development, your growth and your success is a priority.
What will you do in this role?
We are seeking an experienced and technically fluent Developer Relations Lead to establish and scale our Developer Relationship function. This is a critical, foundational role where you will be the voice and advocate for developers and technical users of our SAR satellite data products and APIs.
Your mission: make it easy and delightful for our customers—across both governmental and commercial sectors—to integrate our APIs into their geospatial and analytics workflows.
Today, as we are still in the early stage of building this capability, this is not a high-volume or community-centric DevRel role; instead, it's about deep integration support, proactive technical guidance, and building the foundation for a world-class developer experience for a select group of technically sophisticated customers.
Key Responsibilities
Developer Advocacy & Integration Enablement
- Serve as the primary technical liaison for developer teams at customer organizations.
- Help customers onboard our APIs quickly and effectively by offering hands-on integration guidance, example use cases, and support.
- Build sample code, SDKs, and lightweight developer tools or wrappers to make our APIs easier to adopt.
Documentation & Content
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering to maintain top-tier API documentation, quick-start guides, tutorials, and workflow examples.
- Identify gaps in developer resources and take ownership in producing new, high-quality content.
Customer & Partner Support
- Act as a trusted technical advisor during pre-sales and post-sales engagement, particularly for strategic or complex integrations.
- Participate in onboarding calls, technical workshops, or co-development sessions with key accounts.
- Capture feedback from users and translate it into actionable insights for Product and Engineering teams.
Program Foundations & Strategy
- Establish KPIs for developer satisfaction, API integration success, and onboarding efficiency.
- Define and refine the developer journey from discovery to production use.
- Help shape long-term DevRel strategy, including hiring and tooling roadmap.
Build from scratch: You will shape the DevRel function at a company with global reach and impactful use cases.
Tech with purpose: Our technology helps respond to natural disasters, monitor climate, and support defense and security efforts.
Strategic impact: Your work will directly accelerate customer success and influence product direction.
Essential Skills:
- Proven experience in a Developer Relations, Solutions Engineering, or API-focused Customer Success role.
- Strong technical background, ideally in APIs, cloud platforms, or geospatial technologies.
- Excellent communicator with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and convincingly.
- Comfortable writing technical content (e.g., blog posts, docs, sample apps).
- Experience working with both commercial and governmental customers is a plus.
In addition to the above, it would be beneficial if you had the below attributes and skills:
- Background in Earth Observation, SAR, or remote sensing.
- Familiarity with geospatial data standards and tools (e.g., STAC, GeoJSON, GDAL, QGIS).
- Experience using Python, JavaScript, or command-line tools for API integration or data manipulation.
- Prior experience in a startup or growth-stage environment where building from scratch was required.
What do we offer?
- A job that matters in a dynamic Earth Observation environment with a scale-up approach
- An independent role with a supportive and diverse work environment
- Occupational healthcare, occupational, and accident insurance
- A yearly benefit budget to spend as you wish (i.e. on sport, transport, bike benefit, wellness, lunch, etc.)
- Phone subscription with iPhone of choice
- Relocation support (i.e. flight tickets, accommodation, relocation agency support)
- Time for self-development, research, training, conferences, or certification schemes
- Inspiring and collaborating offices and silent workspaces enable you to focus
- A wide variety of the best coffee, tea, snacks, and sweets to accompany your daily space mission
- Base salary range for this position is contingent on your experience level, and will be negotiated individually.
