What do you think we should do?

ICEYE is building and operating its commercial constellation of small Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellites with SAR data available to customers. Our satellites acquire images of Earth at any time – even when it’s cloudy or dark – providing commercial and government partners with unmatched persistent monitoring capabilities. Information derived from our SAR images helps customers make data-driven decisions to address time-critical challenges in various sectors, such as maritime, disaster management, insurance, and finance.

What are we looking for?

ICEYE is designing, manufacturing and operating a constellation of small SAR satellites. We are looking for a motivated Space Systems Engineer with multidisciplinary skills and experience to work with us on analysis, optimization and development of our satellite fleet during its entire life cycle. The position of a Space Systems Engineer is located within the Spacecraft Analysis team, which is part of the Space Systems department.

What you will do:

The role consist of multidisciplinary tasks and activities related to:

  • Space missions planning and analysis,
  • Modeling and simulation of the system’s behavior, both on high and low level,
  • On-orbit data telemetry mining and analysis,
  • Requirements engineering,
  • Working with other teams within the Spacecraft Engineering, Operations and Missions teams.

Specific responsibilities of the role:

  • Analysis and development of improvements of the spacecraft and mission system-level design,
  • Ground and on-orbit test planning, verification and results analysis,
  • Mission feasibility studies,
  • R&D tasks related to spacecraft systems and its concept of operations,
  • Optimization of spacecraft performance,
  • Calculations and validation of key capabilities of the spacecraft system and interfaces between space and ground segments of the mission: power budget, link budget, optimal tasking etc.

Must have:

  • Degree in Space Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering or other relevant discipline,
  • Understanding of fundamentals of physics in terms of space environment, attitude control, RF propagation, heat exchange, orbital dynamics etc.,
  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams including all sorts of engineering, operations, project management and sales engineering,
  • Ability to plan, perform and properly analyze results of an experiment or test,
  • Critical and analytical thinking,
  • Understanding of overall spacecraft system-level design, components and execution of the space mission,
  • Coding and data analysis skills in Python and MATLAB,
  • Ability to work with Windows and Linux operating systems,
  • Ability to take ownership of the task, plan and perform activities from start to finish,
  • Positive and proactive attitude, desire to learn new things.

Preferred to have:

  • Proficiency with STK,
  • Hands-on experience with electronics lab equipment,
  • Experience with mission critical systems design and troubleshooting,
  • Relevant (4+ years) experience with complex systems design, implementation and operations,
  • Relevant (4+ years) experience within the New Space industry.
